Bill Shannon

Bill Shannon is an internationally renowned artist, break dancer, and skate punk who wields his crutches as tools of expression and weapons of provocation. Born with a rare hip defect that prevents him from standing and walking without crutches, Bill’s legendary street performances and videos challenge narrow notions of ability. The energy, elegance, and fluidity of Bill dancing on crutches, combined with his use of a skateboard for mobility, have earned him a Newhouse Foundation Award, a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship, and a Foundation for Contemporary Art Award, among others. As part of Wonderland at White Box, Bill will continue to explore street performance and contemporary club culture through his own mark of creative resilience.
