An Ode to an American Dreamer

Ritchie Forever: An Ode to an American Dreamer reimagines the music and legacy of Ritchie Valens through live performance, archival footage, and storytelling. Led by Hector Flores and Denise Carlos of Las Cafeteras, the production features Jose Varela (Cutty Flam), Angie Monroy (The McCharmlys), Irene Diaz, and special guests in a collaborative tribute to the artist who helped shape the sound of Southern California.

More than a traditional retrospective concert, this San Diego premiere explores themes of migration, bicultural identity, youth rebellion, and cultural exchange through contemporary interpretations of Valens’ music. Filled with collective energy, Ritchie Forever celebrates the enduring influence of a pioneering artist whose story continues to resonate across generations.
